RC Raven T-Maxx Chassis

Introduction

The first thing I noticed upon pulling my RC Raven T-Maxx chassis out of the package is the powder-coated finish. Most colored aftermarket aluminum parts come anodized, and to see a powder coated part was a refreshing change. Powder coating also seems to give a tougher appearance to a part, as the edges of the part aren't as sharp as an anodized part. This is because powder coating produces a much thicker coat of color that anodizing does.

The part itself is very strong and rigid, being constructed of 4.7 mm 6061 T-6 aluminum. RC Raven's chassis provides cutouts to aid in cooling and weight reduction, but thanks to the thickness and quality of the aluminum used provides a chassis that provides less flex than the stock chassis plate does.

The chassis itself weighs in at a modest 7.0 oz, which is actually .4 oz lighter than the stock plate it replaces. So between the head turning good looks and durable construction, this plate also weighs slightly less than the stock plate does.

If color coordinating your T-Maxx is something that is a priority to you, RC Raven has you covered. They offer the plate in a total of 6 different colors:

  • Black
  • Blue
  • Green
  • Purple
  • Red
  • Silver

Not only do they offer a green option, which is hard to find, but it's the Grave Digger shade of green as well. So all you Digger fans looking to to turn your T-Maxx into a nitro version of one of the most popular monster trucks of all time, now have a very appealing chassis option as well. My plate was power-coated in blue, and it looks great installed on my T-Maxx.
