Motor Saver Traxxas 2.5 Air FilterIntroduction
The basic Motor Saver kit provides you the parts shown to the right. You'll get the filter assembly itself, with a pre-oiled filter, and two wire ties. Before I go any further, let me stress the importance of the ties. To provide a proper seal, and to prevent any filter from slipping off the carburetor, you should use wire ties. Otherwise there's not really a purpose to running a filter at all, because dirt could enter the engine and destroy it.
The kit containing the outer element also comes with a spare inner foam. Both are shown in the picture to the right. Looking at the air filter, one can easily see that it greatly increases the surface area over the stock filter. In extremely dusty conditions the stock filter can easily become clogged. This leads many people to replace the stock filter with more inadequate means of filtration, so that they avoid the filter clogging up. In time, a filter such as that, can cause premature engine wear. However, with the increased surface area of the Motor Saver filter, you have a much larger area for the air to enter the filter and you still retain the foam filtration method which is preferred for a nitro's ring-less piston.
